Ready for operations

>Today’s Ninth Coast Guard District image of the day comes from Lt. Cmdr. Brian Donahue, Chief of the Ninth District’s Aids to Navigation and Domestic Ice Breaking Section.
Lt. Cmdr. Donahue is currently aboard the Coast Guard Cutter Katmai Bay while the crew goes through its Ready For Operations inspection. This picture was shot Dec. 2nd during Katmai Bay’s towing exercise.
During the evolution, the Katmai Bay successfully towed the Coast Guard Cutter Buckthorn in the vicinity of the St Marys River/De Tour area of Michigan. The Katmai Bay’s crew also performed other drills during the inspection, including;
– fire fighting and smoke clearance
– low visibility navigation detail
-man overboard shipboard and cutter small boat recovery.
