Petty Officer Wickens has been selected as the Enlisted Person of the Quarter for the District Nine Staff for the 1st quarter in FY10.

During this period Petty Officer Wickens demonstrated exceptional professionalism. He is one of the Ninth Coast Guard District’s primary experts on the screening of vessels and crewmembers entering the Great Lakes.

During the month of October and half of November 2009, Petty Officer Wickens seamlessly maintained the high standards of the Intelligence Office (dri) in the absence of his direct supervisor. He is also a member of the duty driver and color guard program.

Petty Officer Wickens is a selfless member of his community. Over the holidays, Petty Officer Wickens and his family purchased Christmas gifts for a pair of underprivileged children in the Cleveland area. Petty Officer Wickens is an active member of his church. Through the church, he participates in Operation Christmas Child. This program provides gifts, in the form of a shoebox packed with toys, school supplies and other items. The shoeboxes are shipped to less fortunate children all around the world.

Petty Officer Wickens’ professionalism, work ethic, and initiative are qualities to emulate for his peers and supervisors alike.

Wickens was also presented awards from the Cleveland-area USO and the Navy League of the United States. He has been selected as a recipient of the “Mr. Hero” designation by the Navy League and will be featured at a Cleveland Cavaliers basketball game.

Bravo Zulu Petty Officer Wickens!
