The event was a huge success and an opportunity for about 1,000 kids to meet local Coast Guardsmen, said Master Chief Petty Officer Aaron Zimmer, officer-in-charge of Station Toledo.

Attendees met Petty Officer 1st Class Jason Winders, Petty Officer 3rd Class Chris Hovland, and Cadet 3rd Class Matthew Kuehl, as well as Station Toledo’s dog, Marley.

They also got an up-close look at Station Toledo’s shallow-water boat and one of Air Station Detroit’s Dolphin rescue helicopters and learned boating and water safety from the first responders.
